Soft Tooling and Hard Tooling

Soft Tooling and Hard Tooling

Soft Tooling is known for its soft materials, such as silicone rubber, epoxy resin, low melting point alloy, zinc alloy, aluminum, etc., which are different from traditional steel materials due to their low manufacturing cost and short production cycle. Soft tooling can work as product function testing or market testing in the new product development and has been highly valued by single and low volume production, especially for modern manufacturing model with small quantities and variety.

Rapid Tooling cuts molds based on RPM prototypes as master molds and further exploits the advantages of rapid prototyping technology. There are two types of Rapid Tooling: direct rapid tooling and indirect rapid tooling.
